Head StartHEAD START
Head Start is a federally funded early childhood program for 3-5 year old children residing in the Norwood section of The Bronx. These classes are available at no cost to families whose documented income places them within the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Children must be three years old at time of enrollment. Children with special needs are able to attend Head Start if placement in a Head Start age appropriate class is within their best developmental interest. Three and one half (3.5) hour sessions, 6 hour sessions, and 8.5 hour sessions are available. The children meet five days/week for an entire year, and have opportunities to develop their school readiness skills in understanding, language, gross and fine motor skills, as well as social skills. Parent involvement is part of the Head Start philosophy. Small class sizes. This program is offered at our Northside Annex and the Main Building.
