Northside Annex
The North Side Annex is the newest of the Early Childhood sites of the Mosholu Montefiore Child Development Center. The North Side Annex offers large classrooms, an enclosed outdoor playground and caring, qualified teachers.
The children are taught based on the Creative Curriculum which focuses on 4 critical areas of development: cognitive, physical, social-emotional and language development. Children are taught through creative play, literature and are encouraged to develop their imaginations and social skills. A healthy and nutritious breakfast, lunch as well as snacks are served daily. We offer Day Care for 2,3 and 4 year olds as well as Head Start for 3 and 4 year olds. All programs run for a duration of 12 months. For more information about individual programs, please read on… Day Care The daycare center at North Side Annex is open daily, 8:00 AM-6:00 PM. North Side is proud to introduce 2, 3 and 4-year old daycare classes. North Side offers an early drop off program as well, extending hours to 7:30 AM in order to accommodate the needs of working parents. In our daycare, toddlers blossom through the warmth and caring of their devoted teachers. They learn to socialize with other children, paint, draw, and use their imaginations. Toddlers are encouraged to express themselves and have fun. Preschoolers enjoy a range of activities. Classrooms are arranged in order to encompass interest areas to provoke scientific, mathematical, literal, and fine motor growth and development. Preschoolers are encouraged to explore, learn, express and experience. Head Start Head Start is a free 8 ˝ hour program (8:30 AM-5:00 PM) for 4 year old children and 6 hours (8:30 AM-2:30 PM) for 3 year old children. This program gives low-income families the opportunities for early educational growth, health services, and parent involvement. In addition, the children are prepared academically and socially for Kindergarten. Universal Pre-Kindergarten North Side offers Universal Pre-Kindergarten to every 4 year-old child, via blended funding with our Head Start and Daycare classes. UPK is a 2.5 hour segment of the child's day which consists of Circle Time, snack, gross motor play and an art activity. Other MMCDC sites offer solely 2.5 hours of UPK, not blended as it is at North Side.
